Having signed to the Concord Jazz label at age 22, and receiving a Grammy nomination for his debut album Rewind That at the age of 23, Christian Scott is definitely an artist to be looking at. Ever since his debut released in 2006, he has been getting a lot of attention, from both jazz fans and general music lovers.

His 2007 release, Anthem, also gained a lot of attention, as his music hit on some of the most important topics and themes prevalent in our society today. His style of music accentuates the mood, engaging the listener at a very deep and personal level.

His latest release, Live At Newport, hit the shelves Nov. 4th of this year. It was his third time playing the famous venue, and he notes that he loves to play there.

The album features is a 2-disc set, including a CD and a DVD. The CD features five new songs by Christian that echo his musical hero Miles Davis, who recorded his own Newport release 50 years earlier. The DVD shows the live performance, but also includes ‘The Newport Experience’ with rehearsal footage at Berklee School of Music in Boston just two days prior to the festival.
