Talented a cappella Group Straight No Chaser performs at “Christmas in Washington”

Every year people around the country tune in to see “Christmas In Washington,” a show that officially welcomes the holiday season and fills everyone with the Christmas spirit. The 2008 show was happy to welcome a cappella sensation Straight No Chaser. Having just put out their new album Holiday Spirits in November of this year, this performance falls in the middle of their first big tour as a group.

Remembering the one key track that is most responsible for their great recognition and success, they chose their very unique and creative version of “12 Days of Christmas” as their first presentation of the evening. It was actually a YouTube video of this song that received over 7 million views and, most importantly, the attention of Atlantic Records.

Their second presentation of the evening, “Carol of the Bells” came toward the end of the show and proved to awe the crowd with their intricate harmonies and warm tone. Their version of this timeless classic is an arrangement by group member and founder Dan Ponce.

Their two performance were nothing short of stellar, showing off not only the great talent and ability to harmonizing but also their humor and ability to entertain a crowd. It was truly in the spirit of the season, and the quality was definitely something that we would all expect from “Christmas in Washington.”
