Last Sunday ABC’s hit series “Brothers & Sisters” premiered “Chance Encounters” by Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band — the first track from their new album Act Your Age (immergent) to be showcased on TV. Even for a successful composer and arranger in Hollywood, Gordon’s numbers are impressive: A 2006 Grammy Award for his Instrumental Arrangement of “Incredits” from the Pixar film “The Incredibles,” three Emmy Awards, and eight—make that eleven—Grammy nominations.

2008’s Act Your Age adds three to the count, with nods for Best Large Jazz Ensemble (Act Your Age), Best Instrumental Composition (“Hit The Ground Running”), and Best Instrumental Arrangement – (“Yesterdays” Featuring Art Tatum).
