Latin Jazz Giants Orchestra To Play The Mayan In Los Angeles

Event:
Jan. 15th, 2009
(8:00 pm)
Mayan Night Club
Los Angeles, CA

New York’s Latin Jazz Giants Orchestra will perform in concert at the Mayan in downtown Los Angeles, California on Thursday, January 15th 2009. Keeping the music from the New York Palladium Era alive, the Latin Giants Orchestra brings together Tito Puente’s All Star Orchestra, featuring Tito Puente’s former musical director, Jose Madera with a long list of distinguished musicians including leader, John “Dandy” Rodriguez, Mitch Frohman on sax and Frankie Vasquez as vocalist and many more master musicians.

The Latin Jazz Giants Orchestra is heralded as one of the greatest Latin Orchestras today. With 21 of the top Mambo/Salsa musicians today, they bring music from the 50s and 60s along with new and current musical concepts with an impressive and distinct sound of their own. The Latin Giants fullfill the desires of Johnny Rodriguez Jr., the orchestra’s executive director, and Jose Madera, the musical director, to continue to play with the other members of the Tito Puente orchestra, which disbanded after Puente’s death in May of 2000. Several of the members of the Latin Giants had shared the stage with Puente for up to 30 years.
