Biography: Bassist Matthew Garrison

Matthew Garrison was born June 2nd, 1970 in New York. Here he spent the first eight years of his life immersed in a community of musicians, dances, visual artists, and poets. After the death of his father Jimmy Garrison (John Coltrane’s bassist), his family relocated to Rome, Italy where he began to study piano and bass guitar.

James Moody – an American jazz saxophone and flute player best known for his hit “Moody’s Mood for Love,” an improvisation based on “I’m in the Mood for Love” – passed aways November 9th, 2010 due to complications from pancreatic cancer. The jazz great will be sadly missed.
