San Francisco’s oldest and grandest nightclub, the Great American Music Hall carries guests back to an earlier, more elegant era, with its ornate balconies, soaring marble columns and elaborate ceiling frescoes. Long-time customers and newcomers alike feel at home in the 5,000-square-foot concert hall that symbolized renewal and optimism when it opened in 1907.

Today, a professional sound and lighting system, two full bars, a modern kitchen and a spacious oak dance floor help to blend contemporary quality with turn-of-the-century graciousness.

The past three decades at the Great American Music Hall have been full of music, with artists ranging from Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan and Count Basie to Van Morrison, the Grateful Dead and Bobby McFerrin.

If you’re looking for good food and drink and your favorite artist in a warm, civilized and intimate setting, come join the ranks of those who have delighted in the beauty and charm of this historic building throughout the twentieth century.

A longtime popular restaurant and bar, Café Claude has remained an unpretentious neighborhood meeting place nestled amongst the urban skyscraper. Whether you are shopping, looking for a quick bistro lunch, or seeking a discreet rendezvous, Café Claude is an ideal destination. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, weekend jazz, and hearty inexpensive food seated in a cozy banquette or outdoors under heated patio seating.

Café Claude, with its furnishings rescued from a retired Parisian café, feels like Paris. The curving zinc bar, vintage tables, and period travel posters evoke a wonderful sense of déjà vu as you enter to the sounds of animated conversations.

Café Claude has provided an intimate venue for local jazz musicians during the past twelve years. Many of these musical performers have become familiar names in the Bay Area jazz scene. Join them for an evening of entertainment, whether sitting down to a complete dining experience or just dropping by for a dessert or cocktail.

So slowdown, sip a refreshing pastis or quaff a robust cote du Rhone and escape the stress of the day in a relaxed way

The last of the major buildings of the Exposition (architectural unit designed in 1913), the Palace of the Fine Arts has been a huge cornerstone of the community in San Francisco. Having been used by art associations, by the city itself, and as a motor pool by the army during WWII, it has established long ties with the city as an all-purpose building.

Designed and built using donations and tax monies back in 1913, its restoration in the 1960s was a sign that the city and community could not let it go. The theatre itself, which seats about a 1,000 people in a continental-style configuration, was added in 1970. The Palace of Fine Arts Theatre is operated by the Palace of Fine Arts League, Inc., a non-profit corporation and hosts many events (music events, game shows, late night talk television shows, telethons for fundraisers, and the 1976 Presidential Debate, to name just a few).

Over the last 30 years, Yoshi’s has built itself into one of the world’s most respected jazz venues and won a reputation as the Bay Area’s premier location for people who were looking for great food and the best jazz. Yoshi’s has hosted legendary jazz greats such as Betty Carter, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Diana Krall, Branford Marsalis, McCoy Tyner, Harry Connick Jr. and Oscar Peterson among hundreds of others.

While the San Francisco location thrives, the original location in Oakland still remains and also boasts great Japanese cuisine and the finest jazz around. So, if you are in the Bay Area, that means you have two great locations to choose from.
