The club became the first “burlesque” club in Austin during the 1960s with dancers like Candy Barr and Bubbles Cash. In the late 1970s, following the closing of the One-Knite on Red River, Roger and Roddy One-Knite went into partnershipt with local legends Summerdog and Wayne Nagel, leasing the club. They booked an incredible era of music, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Ely, and WC Clark among others.

In 1987 current owner Steven Wertheimer took over and totally retrofitted the club back to the way it was during the 1950s, with original murals and all. The club now features some of the best retro roots, rockabilly, country, and swing available anywhere. Annual events include Buck Owens, Wanda Jackson, Grey Ghost, The Blues Sepcialists, and Toni Price.
