Creole Restaurant and Music Supper Club in New York continues to raise artistic and showcase standards while invigorating the Harlem Jazz scene, and proudly presenting the Latin Jazz Legacy Series – featuring top stars on the Latin Jazz scene – Fridays and Saturdays in July and August (showtimes at 8:00 pm & 10:00 pm).

Steven Kroon Sextet
Featuring Steven Kroon (congas & percussion), Adam Perez (piano), Waldo Chevez (bass), Bryan Carrott (vibraphone), Craig Rivers (sax & flute), Alex Garcia (drums) – The sultry jazz Latin style of master percussionist Steven Kroon has captivated audiences for over half a century. Kroon has lent his remarkable percussive skills to hundreds of recordings in the Latin jazz, pop, R&B and jazz genres as well as in concert settings around the world. Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen is located in the heart of the Entertainment District of Legends, just North of the Kansas City Speedway. Jazz is thick with Mardi Gras souvenirs and postcards. The atmosphere is gritty and festive (countless customers have scrawled their names on the walls), and you can fill up on great Big Easy grub. The jambalaya and gumbo are perfectly spicy; the shrimp comes by the pound, oysters by the dozen. You can eat your etoufee to the sounds of Kansas City’s jazz and blues.

According to the reviews, most people recommend stopping by on Wednesday or Thursday to hear the live jazz music. You can also get appetizers for $2.99 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

the coonass chicken. I ordered the half order (half assed) which
was a very large portion. The food was amazing. Other people at

The Mint: Great club for jazz in Los Angeles

Every Monday, The Mint, together with 32 Bar Productions, delivers a speak-easy style Jazz experience, reminiscent of some of the old New York Jazz clubs back in the day. Our jazz night , hosted by Kevin Kanner and his quintet and featuring different DJ’s every week is called The Groove Pocket.

The night combines uncompromised Jazz, Bebop and Hip Hop as well as artists painting and drawing throughout the night together with some of LA’s edgiest DJ’s spinning Breaks, Soul and Hip Hop between sets.

Kanner is changing the way Jazz is presented, appealing to new and younger ears without compromising anything musically. This rare treat has become a mainstay and a central event for the Los Angeles jazz scene.

Some say that great jazz experiences in Los Angeles are somewhat hard to find. Many feel that one must go to New York, Chicago or New Orleans to capture a real jazz scene. Here at the Mint, we beg to differ. Right here in Los Angeles you will find a bona fide jazz band doing 2 sets each Monday night, the second set being an open jam session with experienced jazz musicians being invited up to the stage.

The Blue Room In Kansas City: Museum & Jazz Club

Back in the 1930s and ’40s, the Blue Room was one of the hottest nightspots in the 18th and Vine District. Located in the Street Hotel, in its heyday, the Blue Room featured some of the biggest names in entertainment. Today that legacy plays on as part of the American Jazz Museum; however, the name is the only thing that remains the same.

Designed to resemble a nightclub from the 1930s, the Blue Room is a multifaceted exhibit focusing on the Kansas City connection to the evolution of jazz, featuring a wall of fame exhibiting the images of those local musicians that made the Kansas City style swing.

Each of the nine tables on the floor level are display cases of rare artifacts from Kansas City’s musical heyday when scores of nightclubs were swinging with sounds of live music. Additional shadow boxes on the top level display guitars, saxophones, clarinets, records, sheet music, programs and other artifacts of the era. The Massenburg Mural celebrates the history of jazz and the African-American experience through compelling interpretations of jazz legends and inspiring words.

Although smoking is prohibited in an effort to preserve the artifacts, alcoholic beverages are available at the bar and an appetizer buffet is available during Indigo Hour Friday evenings. Since its opening in September 1997, the Blue Room has provided a distinctive platform to present dynamic performances from the best local and national jazz talent in an intimate setting, playing a key part in sustaining Kansas City’s strong jazz heritage at one of jazz’s greatest crossroads, 18th & Vine.

Ciao Pasta is owned by Chef Pasquale Manta who trained in his native Southern Italy at the age of 20. Arriving in California when he was 25, Pasquale worked at Puccini Restaurant in Tustin where he honed his skills under the inspiration of Chef “Franco”. Pasquale, a warm and expressive man who speaks beautiful Italian opened Ciao Pasta in 1995 and it has become a favorite with residents and visitors alike.

You may wish to dine outdoors in the spacious patio around the soothing fountain. The large full bar also seats guests and features two televisions for sporting events.
